Thermal paste application for the 2011 MacBook Pro 2011. So one thing I like doing is re-pasting the CPU/GPU of my laptops. I've successfully done this for my Dell Inspiron 1501, AW M11x, and now my 2011 MBP. I never bothered with my previous MBP's but with the quad cores in these suckers, I wanted to make sure temperatures were kept to a minimum. As long as on load, it didn't go above 90C via SMCfan temps then I'm happy.
Here's my DIY video. I'll go ahead and toss out that disclaimer stuff now, I shall not be responsible if you mess something up following my video guide. It's just for reference, do this at your own risk! Okay. now with that, here's the video!
This was my 2nd time around doing this on my MBP, as my first time I did this with MX-3 and did the pea/rice grain method. I think it was fine, but I went ahead and ordered MX-4 and that spread so much easier. So I went ahead and recorded the video and re-applied the paste. For science. =D
Took me an hour pretty much from start to finish. Most of the time I took was with cleaning the paste from in between the cracks of the resistors or whatever they are. Difficulty? I say 8/10, due to things that can happen, from shock, to damaging the logic board, to all sorts of stuff that can happen going this far in to the laptop.
So hit me up if you have any questions, via here or the tube comments.

Hey you, get outta there!
A stuck pixel. It's red, it's tiny, and it won't go away. Is it a big deal? Not really. Will it bother me? Sniffing some dude's thong - probably. Am I going to exchange it? Absolutely.
Note to self. Make sure to fully inspect the unit before spending a couple hours installing Windows via bootcamp.

Putting words and pictures to my videos
So after some inspiration from both my buddy Alan and but mostly from my babe Amanda, I decided to create a somewhat how-to on my various tech DIY projects. I am a fan of youtube's community sharing which is where I have shared various gaming videos on my Mac hardware. So now along with any videos I share on that site, I also want to blog about them. So here I am.
I purchased a 2011 15" Macbook Pro yesterday and have taken a few pictures of the boxing and did an unboxing video. Here it is!
Feel free to comment on the youtube page itself or here. I plan on providing my initial impressions and a short review on the machine itself in the coming days. More projects to come with the MBP as well!
